Itinerary
Early morning drive to Trichy via Madurai & Kanyakumari, on arrival check in to the hotel. Trichy, the temple town is situated on the banks of river Cauvery. The city was a Chola citadel from the Sangam age. After late lunch proceed to visit Rock Fort temple. It is an 83 meters hill and can be reached by climbing 437 steps cut into a tunnel through the rock. Visit the temple on the top. Overnight stay at hotel.
After breakfast check out and proceed to Mahabalipuram via Kanchipuram (04 hrs 15 mins) & Ekmambareshwara. Kancheepuram, the ‘City of Thousand Temples’, is considered as the second holiest place of India and one of the seven sacred cities. It was successively the capital of the Pallavas and Cholas. This place is also famous for hand-woven silk fabrics. After Kanchipuram sightseeing and Ekmambareshwara, continue to Mahabalipuram. On arrival check in at hotel for 2 nights. Overnight stay at hotel.
After breakfast proceed for sightseeing of Mahabalipuram including the shore temple, Arjun’s penance, Artisans village etc Mahabalipuram was once a flourishing port of the Pallavas of ancient India. The monuments of sculptures are world-renowned and attracting tourists from all over the world. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast drive to Tanjore (05 hrs approx) and on arrival check in at HOTEL for 01 night. Tanjore was once the capital of Chola dynasty of temple builders who ruled South India between 10th and 14th centuries. The important sightseeing places include, the Sri Brahadeeswara temple, the massive temple, destroyed palace and art gallery. Afternoon proceed for the sightseeing for the above said places. Overnight stat at hotel.
After breakfast drive to Madurai. Madurai known as the temple town of South India is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu. On arrival check in at HOTEL for 02 nights. Once the capital city of Pandyas. Madurai is famous for the Meenakshi Temple, with its towering gopurams and rare sculptures. Other important attractions include Thirumalai Naicker Palace, Koodal Azhagar Temple and the Gandhi Museum. Sightseeing including all the above places. Evening to witness Pooja ceremony in the temple. Overnight stay at hotel.
After breakfast drive to Rameswaram which is also considered the ‘Varanasi of the South’. This major pilgrimage centre is on an island in the Gulf of Mannar. The centre of attraction on this small fishing village is the Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the most important temples in South India. Afternoon for sight seeing includes Sree Ramanatah Temple, Ramapadam, etc. Evening drive back to Madurai and overnight stat at hotel.
